To bring great classical music to the widest possible audience in new and engaging ways, and through this interaction, to change people’s lives for the better and develop within them a life-long love of classical music.
Diane Wittry was appointed as the Artistic Director of the Pizazz Symphony Orchestra and Pizazz Music in 2011. She has developed a national reputation for her innovative programming and her audience rapport. She is also currently the Music Director and Conductor of the Allentown Symphony, PA, and the Artistic Director of the International Cultural Exchange Program with the Sarajevo Philharmonic in Bosnia.
The Pizazz Symphony Orchestra is comprised of professional musicians of the highest caliber who bring a unique energy, passion, and commitment to their music making. The members are chosen through a competitive process based upon the quality of their musicianship. All of the Pizazz Symphony musicians are great communicators about classical music and they are excited about relating to their audiences and exposing more people to classical music in new and unusual ways. The Pizazz Symphony presents concerts and educational presentations throughout the United States and Europe. It is our goal to reach thousands of children and adults through concerts, recordings, outreach programs and educational materials, and to involve this audience in experiencing music in relevant and life changing ways.
Pizazz Teaching Artists and Educational Programs
Pizazz Teaching Artists are musicians who are gifted in teaching and communicating music. These teaching artists are drawn from all over the United States and they serve the community in which they live. Each artist develops their own series of programs to educate, enhance and excite people of all ages about the power of classical music.
Pizazz Conducting Seminars
Pizazz Music currently sponsors three conducting seminars taught by Artistic Director and Conductor Diane Wittry. Diane Wittry is the author of the book "Beyond the Baton" (Oxford University Press, 2007) which has become a standard for the conducting industry in the United States. The conducting seminars currently offered are: Posture and Conducting Gestures Workshop - Allentown, PA January 4 - 6, 2013, "Beyond the Baton" National Conducting Workshop - Norwalk, CT June 24 - 28, 2013, International Conducting Workshop - Pleven, Bulgaria May 27 - June 8, 2013
Pizazz Personal Development Seminars for Musicians
Pizazz Music sponsors personal development seminars for musicians which focus on career development, taking auditions, networking, and developing entrepreneurial skills for producing your own concerts. Pizazz Music is committed to the training and development of the finest musicians in the country and to helping these musicians to bring their art form to a broader audience.
Pizazz Courses for Amateur Musicians
Pizazz Music is actively involved with creating avenues for amateur musicians to participate in musical activities and to encourage them to be avid supporters of classical music and music education. The goal is to develop in these participants a life-long personal interaction with music.
Pizazz Recordings and Videos
Selected musicians will work with Pizazz Music to develop educationally based recording projects (CD and DVD), live concert presentations, educational seminars and workshops, and educational and promotional materials designed to bring classical music to a broader audience. Pizazz Music is also committed to supporting American composers and bringing new classical music to a wider audience through videos and recordings.
Pizazz Radio Show "Simply Symphonic"
The radio show, "Simply Symphonic" is hosted by symphony conductor, Diane Wittry, and radio personality, Waldemar Vinovskis. Diane Wittry represents the view behind the scenes into the symphonic world, and Waldemar (Wally) represents the intelligent and curious listener who has lots of questions about classical music, the composers, and their music. Each show focuses on delving deep into the life of a composer and features music from at least three of their compositions. The program features humorous stories about each composer's life, discussion of reviews and articles about their compositions, and interesting selections from their letters and correspondence.
Pizazz Retreat: "Deer Haven"
Pizazz Music has an affiliation with a retreat in the Pocono Mountains, PA. Composers and musicians can apply to spend a weekend or a week in an environment that is peaceful and inspiring. While they are there, these musicians will work on a musical project, compose a piece, or prepare for specific concert performances.
